Home Office will increase fees for immigration tribunals by 500%

From 10 October 2016 the Immigration and Asylum Chamber of the First-Tier Tribunal will dramatically increase their appeal fees. New fees are stated below:

  • £490 without a hearing (previously £80)
  • £800 with a hearing (previously £140)

These fees apply to refusals for all immigration applications, including those under the EEA Regulations, and all asylum claims. There are only few exceptions when you may not have to pay this fee.

Exceptions to appeal fees include the following:

  • Those who receive asylum support or legal aid
  • Those who receive services from their local council
  • Those who are under 18 years of age
  • Those in possession of a Home Office fee waiver
  • Those appealing decisions to revoke their refugee or humanitarian protected status
